Exeter Public Art Strategy is a project led by Exeter City Council in partnership with Exeter Culture and Liveable Exeter. Following a competitive open-call process, AWE was appointed to develop a strategy to guide the commissioning of Public Art that will ‘enhance quality of life for all residents and visitors to the city’.
To deliver this AWE worked through a specifically convened team comprising Creative Director Stuart Crewes, AWE Board member SProfessor John Butler, arts consultant Patricia Dixon and input from specialist Public Art advisors. The team conducted a series of consultations and one-to-one interviews with city-wide arts professionals. Alongside this AWE also held in-person consultations with community groups and non-arts organisations, as well as reaching out to the public via surveys and online polls.
The Public Art Strategy was adopted by the Council Executive in October 2022.
